Beauty Dos and Don'ts for Your Wedding

December 18th, 2013

Every bride wants to look her most beautiful for her wedding day. Trying out new beauty products and procedures right before your wedding can be a big mistake, though.

Check out these beauty dos and don'ts for your wedding so that you can make sure you are looking your best on your wedding day.

Don't stain your teeth.

Avoid foods that can discolor your teeth, like coffee, soda, and red wine.

If your teeth aren't looking as pearly and white as you would like, you can improve them for minimal cost by trying a home teeth whitening product like Crest Whitestrips.

Check out the packaging on the product, and make sure that you start using it in plenty of time before the wedding. Some of those products take six weeks or longer to get results.

Don't go tanning.

Tanning beds are dangerous - they can cause skin cancer in addition to sunburns and blisters. From a strictly superficial perspective, a tan can actually make you look older.

Spray tans aren't a good idea, either. You could end up looking orange, which is never appealing.

If you must spray tan, try it out a month or two before the wedding to see how the color looks before you do it for the big day.

Don't get a bikini wax

Don't get a bikini wax for the first time right before your wedding. If you want to get a bikini wax, try it out a couple months before the wedding and see how your skin reacts.

Many people experience skin irritation following a wax, and you don't want to be uncomfortable down there on your wedding night.

The irritation typically lessens with each waxing session, so if you are committed to the cause, start waxing regularly well in advance of the wedding.

Don't start using any new beauty or body care products

Don't start using any new beauty or body care products within six weeks before your wedding. New products can irritate your skin, which could leave you looking less than glowing on your wedding day.

Stick with your usual makeup products, laundry detergent, and skin care regimen.

Don't get any beauty treatments

Have your treatments done about a week before your wedding. Wax your eyebrows, cut and color your hair, and do facial.

This gives you time to deal with any adverse reactions and correct any unpleasant results.

Avoid salty foods for at least a week before your wedding.

Eating salty things like deli meats, sauces, and salad dressings can make you retain water. If you avoid salt and flush out your system with lots of water, you can drop a few pounds in a week.

Don't sit around in your bra the morning of your wedding

If you are wearing a strapless wedding gown, you could end up with pink lines and indentations on your back and shoulders. Wear a comfy sports bra or the strapless bra that you will wear with your gown all day.

Don't drink too much alcohol.

Drinking too much alcohol can make you feel dehydrated and ruin your skin.

Drink lots of water, and alternate glasses of wine with water. This will make your skin glow and make you feel your best.

Pack an emergency beauty kit.

There are lots of little things you will be glad that you have during your wedding day.

Include bobby pins, spray deodorant, a sewing kit, blotting papers, a razor, and anything else that you think might come in handy.
