Make the Most of Your Limousine Ride

December 31st, 2012

Whenever you book a limousine, you know it's going to be a special night. Every last detail has been planned perfectly–or so you thought. You've chosen a stunning outfit, you reserved a special vehicle, and you're all set. But what if the limousine arrives and it isn't what you expected?

Maybe you asked for a 14-person limousine, but you're feeling a little cramped. So you reach for a few drinks to lighten everyone's mood, only to discover that there isn't any ice. What limo driver would show up for an event like this without ice for the drinks? Probably the same limo driver who leaned back through the partition to ask you for directions to wherever you're going

So what could you have done to plan your limousine ride better? Here are several tips to help you avoid some common headaches with booking a special car ride.

  1. Ask about the size of the vehicle, and that doesn't just mean asking how many passengers will fit. A 14-passenger vehicle may technically fit 14 people, but there's a good chance you will feel cramped, especially if it's a long ride. Ask the person you book with for additional details about the size of the vehicle and explain what kind of event it will be for. This will also help them assist you in choosing the right type of vehicle for your event because there are many different kinds of luxury vehicles.
  2. Make sure that you ask for the things you want ahead of time. In some cases you may find an exceptional service that does all of these things without asking, but it's better to double-check ahead of time. Ask if they're going to have ice and drinks. Ask for anything else you might want, like flowers, balloons, or anything else. A quality service will be willing to go the extra mile for you.
  3. Check out the limousine operator's rating. Each company has a star class, which will tell you what kind of service you can expect from them. A five-star limousine company is the best you can find. They are more likely to be able to provide you with a brand new vehicle than one that has only three stars. Also check out reviews people who have booked with the company before. You can get specifics on their experience with the limousine company and determine if this sounds like a company you would like to ride with.
  4. Email or fax over your itinerary before the event. This will give the driver plenty of time to do a search to find out where you are going. Quality drivers will know how to get to a variety of the main venues, but it's definitely on you to make sure that they have ample time to figure out where you need to go. You should never assume that your driver knows every inch of the city because that's just not realistic in most cases.
