Slim Down for Your Wedding Day
November 25th, 2013
If you choose instead to focus on developing healthier habits, you can maintain your weight when the wedding is over. Brides and grooms alike want to look their best on their wedding day, and many couples would like to lose a few pounds before the big day. Fad diets abound, but they won't provide you with sustained weight loss or a healthier lifestyle.
Increase Your Intake of Water
Cut out the soda, whether it is diet or regular, and drink more water. Replacing sugary drinks with water cuts down on the number of calories that your body is taking in each day.
Studies show that drinking diet soda instead of regular soda does not help you lose weight. So stick with water.
Water removes toxins from body and decreases bloating. Drinking water also makes you full, so you won't eat as much. Try to drink eight glasses of water a day. It's a good idea to keep a water bottle with you throughout the day so that you don't forget to hydrate.
You should also try drinking a full glass of water before every meal. It will help you get the water intake that you need, and you will feel fuller before you begin your meal.
Cut Down On Large Portions
Restaurant servings are notoriously large. Serving sizes are typically much larger than our bodies actually need. Startoff with a smaller serving, and wait a little while after eating to see if you still feel hungry before you take more food.
Many of us have forgotten what hungry really feels like. When dining out, eat only half of your meal and put the rest in a doggie bag to take home.
Smaller meals are better for your body, even if you eat more often. Four or five small meals a day is better than two or three large meals, because it will work with your metabolism and you will lose more weight. You may notice that you enjoy your food more when you eat less and you won't feel stuffed or sick after eating.
Eat Your Veggies
Fresh fruit and vegetables have lots of nutrients and fiber. Lettuce may not seem like a meal to you, but if you try eating a big salad for lunch, you will probably feel quite full.
Add protein to your salad in the form of lean meat, nuts, or cheese, and you have a complete and satisfying meal. Since fruits and veggies are so low in calories, you can afford to eat more.
Take a Multivitamin
Get plenty of sleep, and take a multivitamin supplement. Choose one that has Vitamin B12, which will help to give you more energy. Changing your eating habits can be a shock to your system, and you may feel really tired for a while. Don't let that discourage you.
Cut Back on Alcohol
A couple beers with dinner can be more than 500 calories. When you are having fun, you may not notice how much you are drinking. Those calories are tough to burn off. Drink water instead, and you'll save a ton of calories.
Exercising together is good for your body and your relationship. Taking a walk together every night gives you an opportunity to talk and share your day while doing something good for your body. When you walk together, you hold each other accountable.
