Visit The Harbourfront
August 8th, 2013
A visit to Toronto would not be complete without a trip to the Harbourfront. This ten acre site sees over twelve million visitors every year and provides over four thousand cultural, artistic or community events each year.
The Harbourfront is managed by a non-profit charity who aim to present and organize public events and introduce artists and alternative art forms which would not normally be accessible in commercial venues.
The Harbourfront Centre is situated on the shore of Lake Ontario, so is able to offer visitors a whole host of attractions and events. There is an arts program in operation all year round, with world class events and performances to see. This ideal location offers visitors the opportunity to spend an entire day, with an amazing array of activities which offers something to see or do for everyone.
For a relaxing day, why not take a stroll along the water's edge, taking in the spectacular views before enjoying a leisurely lunch at a choice of relaxed cafes or sophisticated restaurants. For those who are feeling a little more active, why not take advantage of the great selection of water sports available.
Cruises, Tours, Boat Rental
There are day or evening cruises, tours or boat rental to allow you to fully appreciate the lake. The Harbourfront Centre offers visitors the opportunity to rent a sail or powerboat from their fleet.
The Centre has a wide variety of boats available which are all equipped with the relevant safety equipment. Bareboat can be rented out to members of the public who have the boating experience of recognized credentials, while with smaller powerboat rental the Centre can provide the relevant safety training.
Even if you have no boating experience, you can still enjoy a boat rental with an instructor along to drive the boat. Boats can be booked in advance by telephone or email, to allow you to fully plan out your day ahead of time.
Boats which do require a designated boat skipper or driver, there is a boating resume online form which can be emailed or faxed to the office staff. The office staff will also happily arrange an instructor if required.
